Studies show that over 70% of incarcerated youth are in need of mental health treatment, however, only 30% of these youth actually receive services from a mental health professional. At least 40% of our justice-involved kids fall in the gap of needing mental health services. This is attributing to the rate of recidivism.
Showcase Group does Advocacy, Case Management, and Social and Emotional Learning workshops to prepare justice-involved youth for the challenges they will face when they reenter the communities they came from at the time of their incarceration. Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a key factor in preparing these youth. Our social and emotional learning workshops aid in the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
We make certain that kids are equipped with the mental health tools they need to avoid recidivism, and we connect them with the resources that they need to sustain as productive citizens.
